Jewelry Industry Knows We’re Aging Out

Why aren't we doing more to change it?

THE MVEye recently asked some questions about age to different sectors of the industry. The results show that the industry knows we’re all aging out (and quickly). What’s surprising is why we’re not doing more to change the direction of this self defeating trend.

Younger consumers are not shopping (for jewelry or anything else) the way their parents did and they never will. But, as an industry, we desperately need more young people working in our stores and supply chains to show those younger consumers that they can be comfortable buying from us for a lifetime.

First we asked retailers about the average age of their customers

And then we asked manufacturers and wholesalers what they thought the average age of consumers in jewelry stores is

Then we asked retailers what the average age of their staff is

And we asked wholesalers and manufacturers what average age of their staff is
